Animal Planet Connection
In the 1990s Alameda East Veterinary Hospital was approached about doing a documentary-style cable television series about emergency medicine for animals.
"Emergency Vets" was a runaway hit with viewers. The show was filmed on-site and aired over 100 episodes from 1998-2002. Reruns are still popular and the show airs around the world in over 100 million households nearly every day.
After the series was completed, specials were filmed for broadcast including E-Vets: The Cutting Edge, airing in 2005, a special that showcased the hospital's leading technology at work. In 2006, Emergency Vets 20 Most Unusual Cases aired including interviews with the families and the original treating veterinarians.
What's next? Stay tuned. Animal Planet is filming on-site once again. This time, the focus is on our team of intern doctors. The premier of E-Vet Interns is January, 2007.
