24-Hour Emergency Care
Lulu was brought into the ER during the middle of the night. Radiographs revealed a gunshot wound to the abdomen. She immediately received lifesaving emergency surgery and her prognosis is excellent.
VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital has been providing 24-hour emergency care to the community since 1971 and has an international reputation for excellence and innovation in this field. You may have seen our veterinarians and staff in action on Emergency Vets, filmed documentary-style at our facility. We offer a wide range of lifesaving procedures including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergency surgery and treatment of trauma.
All day, 365 days a year, there is a licensed veterinarian on site and appropriate certified veterinary technician support. Board-certified specialists are on call when not on the premises. With our capable staff, advanced medical/surgical capabilities and on-site laboratory and pharmacy we are able to provide a wide range of lifesaving procedures to treat the seriously ill or injured animal.
We see thousands of emergency cases each year and we promptly communicate with the patient's primary care veterinarian. Indeed, we work as part of the treatment team with a growing list of more than 1,000 of the area's veterinarians.
